Open Options, Inc. Announces Immediate Move to Met Laboratories


Carrollton, TX - March 5, 2009 - Open Options has announced an immediate move to Met Laboratories for all product safety testing and certification.  This decision was based on years of poor customer service and incompetent handling of our account by UL and should have no affect on our customers. 

Met Laboratories is the first Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the United States and has been certifying, listing, and labeling products for electrical product safety for more than 40 years.

What is the difference between UL and MET Listed Marks?

The UL and MET marks both indicate that the product has met the minimum requirements of the applicable safety standards. Additionally, both marks validate the product's continued compliance to these standards as evidenced by periodic factory follow-up inspections.

The main difference between these two marks is with the level of involvement and partnership between the manufacturer and the test lab.  As a service-oriented company, Open Options knows and respects the value of this relationship and customer service has played a major role in our decision to convert our listing(s) to MET Labs.

Is the MET Mark accepted in my area?

MET Laboratories is authorized by the U.S. and Canadian governments to certify products to UL and CSA safety standards. 

The MET Mark for product safety is accepted throughout the United States and Canada and is acceptable under Federal law for products used in workplaces throughout the United States.  

Does MET address the Access Control standard?

 MET is currently qualified to certify products in 170 UL Standard categories including UL 294 Access Control System Units.  

Will this affect product delivery or lead times? 

Open Options does not anticipate any delays in product shipping or lead times as a result of this transition.
