DNA Upgrades/Software Maintenance Agreements

Dear Valued Dealer:

As you know, Open Options has recently announced the End of Life/End of Sale on the NPower MMS software. This will require that MMS customers either upgrade before then or recognize that no technical support will be available on that product after that date.

To accommodate the upgrade process for our customers, we are offering to provide the upgrades free for those customers under a valid Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA), provided they have instituted that protection and coverage prior to August 1, 2005. After that date, upgrades can be purchased at standard pricing.

Software Maintenance Agreements are basically extended warranties. MMS software experienced a product life cycle of 9 years. Through that time, many enhancements, improvements and corrections were implemented on the software. As with any software product, that is the normal case and process of evolution. With software maintenance, those improvements are made available to the customer so that they are always current and supportable for the next level of enhancement.

NPower DNA is a relatively new product with an anticipated product life cycle of 10 years. We are into that cycle approximately 1.5 years with the current release version being Version 3. Without software maintenance, the customer risks falling behind or finding their warranty expired when they may need it. With a full product life cycle before them, many changes and enhancements will be made to the DNA product, therefore the value of software maintenance, to ensure long term support and upgraded functionality, is significant and strongly recommended by Open Options.
