Technology Policy Statement regarding Microsoft® Product Compatibility
Open Options Inc. is a leading edge, state of the art, access control technology
company. One imperative element of our business strategy is to maintain
compliance with any and all applicable products, product upgrades, service
packs, and system enhancements from Microsoft®. We believe this is in the
best interest of our customers and technology partners
As a Microsoft Certified Partner®, we typically receive advance releases of the
major product updates and pre-release copies of the major new operating system
products. Upon those pre-releases, we begin initial testing with the expressed
goal of demonstrating full product compliance with our core access and
identification products and new Microsoft products by the date of the official
release by Microsoft.
Throughout the life of any given software product, it has been the history that
software fixes are released to correct operational or security problems in the
form of service packs or hot fixes. Occasionally, these service packs and hot
fixes have no pre-release availability to the Certified Partners so we receive
them as they are available to the general public. Once a service pack or fix has
been officially released, it is Open Options' policy to immediately test our
products with the service pack or hot fix to identify and address any potential
conflicts.
The array of variability within the networking environment of Microsoft
products is vast and there is no way to actually simulate all of the different
combinations of settings, network privilege settings, security settings etc.
Therefore, the testing of these service packs are a basic functionality testing
and Open Options cannot warranty full functional compliance on any and all
combinations of settings or parameters.
If a specific concern is addressed from the end user pertaining to a loss of
functionality of the Open Options product as a direct result of a service pack
being issued by Microsoft, Open Options will be available to assist in the
development of viable “work-arounds” or software enhancements to restore that
lost functionality.
Open Options will always endeavor to be on the leading edge of all technology as
it relates to access control and identification products. We have selected
Microsoft products as the operating system and database of our primary products.
Additionally, we have selected Microsoft products for our programming language
and compilers in which we develop software products. As Microsoft Certified
Partners it is in our own best interest to always maintain product
compliance and compatibility with the latest version of applicable Microsoft software
that our
products would operate in conjunction with.
