We are pleased to announce that the next generation (series 2) of I/O boards and reader sub-controllers have began shipping this month.  While these boards maintain the same great features you have come to expect, there are a few key differences that you should know about.

• The most important change is the input voltage requirements for all series 2 boards.  All boards accept ONLY DC voltage as AC input is no longer supported.  The good news is that they all now support a much wider range of input voltage from 12-24VDC +/- 10%. 

• In addition to the familiar LEDs for relay status, there are now onboard LEDs for input points and reader data ports.  Input point LEDs show real time status (active, inactive, or trouble) of all points on the board and reader LEDs indicate data transmission on the relative port.

• Reader ports on the reader sub-controllers (RSC-1 and RSC-2) now have built-in support for RS-485 circuits allowing us to communicate with a host of biometric and smart readers using this protocol.  Look for supported readers to be revealed in an upcoming announcement.

What has remained the same is the quality you have come to expect from Open Options products.  The updated components give the boards a slightly different look, however the mounting hole patterns and all connections remain the same.  You will find updated product information for each located on our website:
